The unit (10) has a coupling device (16) provided for selective coupling at one of machine components (18). A displacement device (14) displaces the coupling device along a displacement direction, which is extended parallel to a displacement path to displace the coupled machine components along the displacement path i.e. supporting rail (20). A holding device (24) is provided for fixing the machine components on the displacement path in different positions. A control device controls the displacement device dependent upon a width of substrate (6). An independent claim is also included for a method for displacement of multiple components in a machine.
