METHOD FOR MONITORING AN ADJUSTABLE HORIZONTAL PLAN ACTUATOR IRREVERSIBILITY DEVICE, CORRESPONDING SYSTEM AND AIRCRAFT

The present invention relates to a method and a system for monitoring an actuator (10) equipped with an irreversibility device (16) or no-back brake, and in particular an adjustable horizontal plane actuator (2) provided in aircraft (1). The method comprises the steps of: - determining (42) a value (W) representative of the mechanical work produced by said actuator (10); comparing (52) said determined value with ranges of values so as to detect a malfunction of said irreversibility device (16). In the case of a screw / nut type actuator (12, 15) and a hydraulic motor (14), said value (W) representative of the mechanical work is determined from an algebraic speed (Vm) of the motor (14) and an algebraic differential of hydraulic pressure (ΔP) at the terminals of said engine. A negative value (W) corresponding to a negative mechanical work then identifies a failure of the irreversibility device.
