PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a visual inspection method of a metallic can end seaming capable of accurately measuring seam thickness of a seam-fastening part of a can over the entire circumference thereof.;SOLUTION: A visual inspection method of a metallic can end seaming using a visual inspection device includes: capturing a reflection image of both ends of an upper ends of a seam-fastening part with illumination light from a ring illumination device 2 disposed above the seam-fastening part by a camera 4 disposed to be coaxial with the center of the ring illumination device 2; converting an input image into a digital multi-gradation image; obtaining a double ring-shaped image of the both sides of the upper edge of the seam-fastening part; measuring the ring widths of the outer end and inner end of the double ring at a proper interval over the entire circumference thereof radially from the center of the ring-shaped image; and thus determining, when the dimension of each ring width is outside a threshold range of predetermined upper and lower limits, that the can is defective.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
