PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a subscriber premise side optical line terminating apparatus that is downsized to facilitate connections between an optical transmission path and a plurality of pieces of terminal equipment, and that eliminates the necessity of dedicated power supply equipment and cables to achieve high reliability, space saving, and lower power consumption, and also to provide an optical transmission system equipped therewith.;SOLUTION: An ONU is configured such that built-in constituents are separated and disposed on at least two substrate modules. Disposition patterns include: (a) an L2 layer and part of an L1 layer constituent are disposed on a first substrate module, while the rest of the L1 layer constituent is disposed on a second substrate module; (b) the L1 layer constituent and L2 layer constituent are each separately disposed on the first substrate module and the second substrate module; and (c) the L2 layer constituent and the L1 layer constituent are disposed on the first substrate module and the second substrate module, respectively.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
