PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traffic jam relaxation system for certainly relaxing a traffic jam by paying attention to propagation of deceleration between succeeding vehicles.;SOLUTION: This traffic jam relaxation system has: a traffic jam determination part 31 for determining whether there is a traffic jam factor or not; and an acceleration/deceleration control part 22 for making the respective succeeding vehicles 2B-2E of a vehicle 2A heading for a traffic jam factor occurrence point P perform deceleration control in advance, when a traffic jam determination means determines existence of a jam factor. The acceleration/deceleration control part 22 can reduce the propagation of influence of the deceleration to the vehicle in the rear of the vehicle 2C by making the vehicle 2C more distant from the traffic jam factor occurrence point P than the vehicle 2B perform the deceleration control with a smaller deceleration amount than a deceleration amount of the vehicle 2B, i.e., making the vehicle 2C achieve a target speed to be achieved until arriving at the traffic jam factor occurrence point P with the smaller deceleration amount.
