PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus, a setting automation method, and a setting automation program capable of improving usability.SOLUTION: According to an embodiment, the image reading apparatus: (1) sets up a reading mode for image reading to be performed by a reading part, an application to be started up on an information processor, and a storage folder in the information processor for storing image files, on the basis of paper quality and paper size detected by a sensor group, (2) creates an image file including images that are read according to the set reading mode and recording information of paper quality and paper size, and (3) transfers information of the set application and the storage folder and the created image file to the information processor.
