PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the yield in a process for manufacturing an electrode structure and a cold-cathode discharge lamp while ensuring wettability of solder of an external lead wire, and to facilitate incorporation of the cold-cathode discharge lamp.;SOLUTION: An external lead wire 100 for a cold-cathode discharge lamp comprises a core wire 100a consisting essentially of iron (Fe), and a covering part 100b covering the core wire 100a.
