PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-coated cutting tool having a hard coat layer exhibiting superior chipping resistance and wear resistance during high-speed cutting, and its manufacturing method.;SOLUTION: A Ti compound layer or a (Ti, Al)N layer is formed on a surface of a tool base as a lower layer. A lower intermediate layer made of YSZ (yttria stabilized zirconia), an upper intermediate layer made of one of Cr and Al oxide solid solution, Cr oxide and Ce oxide, and an upper layer made of one of κ-Al2O3, γ-Al2O3 and θ-Al2O3 are formed on the lower layer by a dynamic aurora PLD method to improve chipping resistance and wear resistance of the surface-coated cutting tool.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
