PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that, in a library, for example, it is necessary for a conventional portable communication terminal with a speech function to initiate "character speech mode" by performing switching operation successively in addition to call receiving or call originating off-hook operation, and time and effort are pressed on a user.;SOLUTION: In the scene where a voice speech is not suitable, a user sets his terminal to "silent mode" usually. The present invention relates to a portable communication terminal with a silent speech function including a function which then decides whether the portable communication terminal is being set to the "silent mode" or not and in accordance to whether the silent mode is being set or not, automatically initiates any suitable speech mode between "character speech mode" and "voice speech mode".;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
