A text mining device includes characteristic condition certainty calculation means (203) which acquires reliability of a word contained in the characteristic condition defining a characteristic text set specified by a user via an input device (1) from a word reliability storage unit (304) for each of the positions in the text where the word appears and calculates a characteristic condition certainty for each text from all the obtained reliabilities according to a predetermined calculation. When the respective reliability values are large, the characteristic condition certainty calculation means (203) performs such a calculation that makes the certainty value large. Representative text output means (204) outputs a text having the highest characteristic condition certainty among the texts for which the characteristic condition certainty has been calculated, together with its characteristic condition certainty.
