摘要

The present invention relates to a system and method for adaptively choosing applications/utilities that can be provided to users in a cloud based utility computing environment (UCE) based on their network characteristics. More specifically the present invention deals primarily with methods to categorize remote utility computing applications (RAPPs) based on their network Quality of Service (QOS) requirements. It also deals with methods to decide on suitable RAPPs that can be provided to users based on their network parameters, measured in the network path between users and the nearest utility computing server farm. The invention also deals with the ability to provide local hard disk based operating system and application which is not a managed environment but the access to which is controlled by the utility computing envirornment.
