BIOFORMULATION OF PENICILLIUM PURPUROGENUM AND PROCESS FOR PREPARATION THEREOF

The present invention provides a strain of entomopathogenic fungi Penicillium purpurogenum and process for preparation of low cost bioformulation product using fungal bio-agent for control of sucking insect pest like red spider mite a major pest of tea. More particularly it relates to process for preparation of fungal bio-agent Penicillium purpurogenum easily suspended in water. Process includes a process for mass scale production of fungal bioagents and preparation of fungal spore suspension in natural water. Dilution prepared from the product recommended by maintaining spore load at 1 x 108 for field application. Laboratory as well as field assay demonstrated the capacity of Penicillium purpurogenum to infect all the stages of red spider mite resulted from application of 1 x 108 conidia/ml (with 100% and 86% mortality respectively).
