UTILIZATION OF GRANULAR FORMALATION OF YEAST AGAINST POST HARVEST LOSSES OF MANGO AND PAPAYA FRUITS.

Active dry granular formulation of biologically pure culture of an antagonistic yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae Isolate No.2 is capable of inhibiting growth of a deleterious fungal pathogens viz Colletotrichum and Botryodiplodia causing post harvest losses in mango fruits and Botrytis and Botryodiplodia in papaya fruits during storage . Active dried yeast which contain high dry matter and is remarkably stable for a period of nine months even at 27 + 1 °C and is therefore suitable for sub-tropical countries where the temperatures are relatively high. Eventually the hyphae of pathogens were inhibited penetrated and destroyed by the cells of the antagonistic yeast.
