VIRTUAL ENVIRONMENT FOR SIMULATING THE MANUAL ACTIVITIES OF PREPARING THE TEETH IN FIXED PROSTHESING

The invention relates to a virtual system for the teaching process in the field of stomatology as well as for the continuous medical education of the dentists. The virtual simulation environment claimed by the invention consists of a visuo-haptic configuration ensuring the force return expressed at the user's hand level in full sychronization with the visual displaying of the medical gesture, in a software architecture of the system, which consists of 5 subsystems which collaborate concurrently to ensure, in the first place, a rapid and realistic response to the user's actions upon the simulated environment, and in the second place, the environment persistence, and of the visuo-haptic simulation of the intervention at the teeth level which allows real time visuo-haptic modelling of the orientation grooves, of the gingival thresholds carried out on different types of teeth - central incisor, premolar, molar and canine - having a complex morphology presenting concave zones.
