The invention relates to a tower-type, hollow structure, especially a solar updraft chimney, comprising a shell (1) and at least one vibration absorber (2) which has a balancing weight that is mounted within the shell (1) so as to oscillate and that is supported on the shell (1) by radial damping elements (14). In order to create advantageous design conditions, the balancing weight is configured as an annular body (3) that is concentric to the shell (1) and the radial damping elements (14) are supported on a reinforced annular section (10) of the shell (1).
