Rear camouflage device (20) of a motor vehicle, of the type comprising: - supports (30) intended to be integral with the flanks (14) of the motor vehicle; - a shelf (32) rotatably mounted around a transverse axis (B-B ') in the supports (30) between a substantially horizontal position disposed in support on the supports (30) and an inclined end-of-travel position; - a mechanism (34) for articulating the shelf (32) in relation to the supports (30) comprising, for each support (30), at least one stop surface (76) delimited by the shelf (32) and a complementary stop surface (90) delimited by the support (30), the stop surface (76) and the complementary stop surface (90) intended to slide on each other during pivoting the shelf (32) around of its transverse axis (B - B ') to prevent radial displacement of the shelf (32) in relation to its transverse axis (B - B') forward, both the support surface (76) and the support surface complementary (90) located radially at a first distance from the transverse axis (B-B '), the articulation mechanism (34) of the shelf (32) comprising a retention surface (82) integral with the shelf and a retention surface complementary (96) defined by each support (30), the retention surface (82) being and the complementary retention surface (96) located radially at a second distance of the transverse axis (B-B ') greater than the first distance, in which the retention surface (82) and the complementary retention surface (96) collaborate for each inclined position of the shelf (32) between its substantially horizontal position and its inclined end-of-travel position to prevent radial rearward movement of the shelf (32) in relation to the transverse axis (B-B '), characterized because, in the substantially horizontal position, the retention surface (82) is arranged separated from the complementary retention surface (96) to allow a radial displacement of the shelf (32) backward between a position engaged in each support (30) and a detached position separated from the supports (30).
