Disclosed are a method and system for improving the robustness of a context update message in robust header compression, a compressor and a decompressor. The method includes: the compressor carrying out check processing, when sending a context update message, on an important field in the context update message, creating a check code, and sending the check code and the context update message out together; and after receiving the check code of the important field in the context update message and the context update message, the decompressor first checks the important field in the context update message; if the check is passed, then continuing to execute the decompression processing, and if not, then discarding the context update message. The present invention can reduce the probability of mistaking other compression packages for IR/IR-DYN messages caused by error code in the packet format field.
