The tool (1) has a flange plate (5) attached to a pressure plate (8) by a pressure bolt (6), which engages through a wheel hub (3) in a wheel hub flange plate (10). A drive (11) permits relative movement of the wheel hub and the pressure plate. A hand guard (17) covers the pressure bolt at a peripheral side, is mounted on the flange plate, and exhibits circular configuration in cross section. Two sleeve-like bodies are movable relative to each other, and the hand guard is partially produced from transparent material.
