The invention relates to an apparatus for promoting the healing of a hoof or leg injury or disease of an animal, particularly a horse, comprising a strap (15-21) to be placed around the trunk of the animal and a mounting (9-13) by means of which the strap (15-21) can be pulled upward. According to the invention, the strap (15-21) is mounted by way of a balancer (10, 11) to a fixture (7, 8) that can be moved two-dimensionally in a horizontal plane. The fixture (7, 8) comprises a carriage (7) disposed on a slide rail (4), which is arranged and displaceable on two slide rails (3) oriented at a right angle thereto, wherein the slide rails (3, 4) are arranged in a cuboid or cube-shaped frame (1). The strap (15-21) is fastened with the two ends thereof to mutually parallel sides of a two-dimensional cross bar (13), which at or close to the center thereof is connected to the balance (10, 11), and is composed of a number of individually tensionable supporting straps having a common, preferably breathable, cushioning pad.
