An image rendering device implements stereoscopic view of a combined background image. A DIBR unit (17) shifts individual background images constituting the combined background image and performs boundary processing accompanying the pixel shift. The combined background image is generated by combining end portions of one or more background images on a three-dimensional model. The pixel shift is processing for moving coordinates of pixels constituting the background image in a lateral direction, and the amounts of movement of the pixels are determined on the basis of the depth values of pixels in a depth image. The boundary processing is processing for extracting pixel groups that go outside the display ranges of the individual background images by the movement of the coordinates of the pixels in the lateral direction, and adding the extracted pixel groups to end portions of other background images adjacent in the lateral direction.
