PURPOSE: A pre-treating method of serpentine for mineral carbonation is provided to increase reactivity of mineral carbonation by producing magnesium oxide and decrease decomposition temperature of serpentine by adding oxalic acid during heat treatment of serpentine. CONSTITUTION: A pre-treating method of serpentine for mineral carbonation comprises the following steps: obtaining 43 or less than 43micro meters particle sized serpentine powder by pulverizing serpentine(10); mixing the serpentine powder and oxalic acid(20); and heat treating the mixture of the oxalic acid and the serpentine under inert gas atmosphere(30). A mixing weight ratio of the oxalic acid to serpentine powder is 0.5-1.2 to 1.6-2.4. The heat treating is processed at 450-550deg.C. The oxalic acid is oxalic acid dihydrate.
