PURPOSE: An anti-overheat device for a starting motor and a method thereof is provided to improve the durability of the starting motor by preventing damages and overheat caused by a continuous starting demand when a fuel pump, an injector and an ignition coil do not operate.;CONSTITUTION: An anti-overheat device for a starting motor comprises a battery(101), an ignition switch(102), an inhibitor switch(103), starting relay(104) and control unit(106). The ignition switch detects a starting request. The inhibitor switch detects a selection about N or P range of a shift lever. The starting relay controls cranking operations of the starting motor(105). If a starting request of the ignition switch continues over a set-up time, the control unit runs anti-overheat control operations to keep the starting relay opened.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2012
