PURPOSE: A system and a method for measuring surface roughness are provided to detect a welding unit informing a start of a continuous coil and to calculate a cut distance when the coil is cut into a plurality of sub-product coils before shipment.;CONSTITUTION: A system for measuring surface roughness comprises devices for measuring surface roughness of front and rear surfaces, and a welding unit detector(10), and a tracking device. The devices for measuring surface roughness of front and rear surfaces installed to be spaced from each other measure surface roughness of front and rear surfaces of a plated steel sheet. The welding unit detector detects a welding unit of a coil continuously welded and transmits signals for detecting the welding unit.
