PURPOSE: A method for monitoring a watch dog signal of a shift control unit is provided to reduce signal processing load by distinguishing between right and wrong of process execution of the watch dog signal through signal period decision logic.;CONSTITUTION: An engine control unit receives a watch dog signal from a shift control unit(S1). The shift control unit calculates the elapsed time between first receiver time of the watch dog signal and second receiver time of the watch dog signal(S5). The shift control unit determines whether the elapsed time exceeds reference time or not(S7). The shift control unit practices the logic for determining a normal operation state.
