PURPOSE: A method of analyzing the size of pearlite colony using electron back scattering diffraction is provided to apply electron back scattering diffraction to boundary connecting concept. CONSTITUTION: A method of analyzing the size of pearlite colony using electron back scattering diffraction is as follows. Crystal orientation of a steel material with a pearlite phase using electron back scattering diffraction is measured. An orientation difference map is calculated between crystal orientations using the measured crystal orientation so that an orientation difference map is made. A colony classification reference value and a boundary completion reference value are set using the orientation difference. The set colony classification reference value and the set boundary completion reference value are compared with the orientation difference so a pearlite colony boundary is determined.
