The mechanism (900) has a pivoting safety lever (536) whose pivoting is controlled by a control lever (535) when a minute repeater is engaged. The safety lever comprises a notch (536A), which is arranged to cooperate with a finger (537A) of a pivotable bolt (537), returned by a spring in order to prevent the minute repeater from being released again once the repeater is set in motion. The bolt is released at end of a ringing cycle of an hour display by the minute repeater.
