The method involves determining position of investigation object based on three-dimensional (3D)-volume data (21) and two-dimensional (2D)-image data (28,29) of investigation object. The virtual 2D-image data (48,49) from the 3D-volume data is determined based on diagram parameters. The virtual 2D-image data for several sets are determined by diagram parameter values of the diagram parameters to be determined around a correspondence between the virtual 2D-image data and acquired 2D-image data. The position of investigation object is determined based on one set of diagram parameter values. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) computer program for detecting position of investigation object; and (2) device for detecting position of investigation object.
