The engine (10) has two cylinder banks (11, 12) provided with a fuel supply in four-stroke process operating high pressure cylinders. Valves e.g. inlet valves and outlet valves, of the cylinders of the cylinder banks are controlled by cam shafts (27, 28) that are driven from a crankshaft (13). A supercharger (34) is supplied with exhaust gas in low pressure cylinders, where the exhaust gas exits from the outlet valves. The high pressure cylinders of the cylinder banks are operated at a defined ignition interval in a defined firing order.
