The device (1) has a control slide (2) rotatably arranged with respect to an axis (3) and around the axis. An aperture slot (19A) is provided in a wall (15) of a guide hole (16). The slide comprises an inlet opening (9) and an outlet opening (10), which are assigned to the slot. The inlet opening, the outlet opening and the aperture slot are designed such that control time is varied by axial adjustment of the slide with respect to the slot. The inlet and outlet openings partly overlap with the slot during control of inlet and outlet of vapor into/from a piston engine.
