The lead (1) has two substances (5, 6) and a third substance formed as a separation layer (10) between the two substances. The two substances are present next to each other such that one of the substances is depleted to proceed a writing and/or coating process using the other substance. A coating element (4) e.g. ball, is set at a head (2) and a cover (3) that is made of plastic or metal. An opening (8) is formed at a rear end of the cover, where the substances are loaded with atmospheric pressure via the opening. The element includes a spring for conveying the substances by capillary effect.
