The system has a tool e.g. turning tool (2) and milling tool, and machine-sided adapters (5) comprising contact surfaces (15, 16) formed geometrically complementary to each other and contacting each other. The contact surfaces are arranged radially outside of hollow retainers (7) and pins (12) with respect to an assembly axis. Attachment screws (4) are provided for pressing the contact surfaces together and for fastening the tool at the adapters. The adapters are differently adapted for assembly at different machines, and the tool is mounted on the machines by the adapters. The turning- and milling tools are formed as drilling rods.
