The method involves feeding the material web (10) overlying a dancer roller (11) in the loop of material web which is more displaceable for the adjustment of fabric tension against spring force transversely in rotational axis (24). An initial transmitter is indirectly coupled with the holder of dancer roller. A sensor is provided to sense the actual position of dancer roller and to emit signal to actuator unit by which winding speed is adjusted to desired fabric tension. The sensor is displaced for adjustment of desired fabric tension. An independent claim is included for skein winder.
