The magnetic fields (15) of different strengths are applied to a magnetic field probe (10) of the magnetic field sensor (1), and the response voltages are read out. The sensitivity of the magnetic field sensor is determined based on the difference of the magnetic field strengths and the difference of the response voltages. The desired field intensity of the permanent magnet is determined on the basis of the determined sensitivity.
