A method comprising: contacting a hydrocarbon mixture under hydro conversion conditions in a hydro conversion zone with a mixture of an acid-containing ions liquid catalyst and of at least one alkyl halide with at least 55 w -% halide and a boiling point of 70°C or higher. Alkylation, comprising contacting a hydrocarbon mixture under alkylating with a mixture of an acid-containing ions liquid catalyst, in which it is a chloroaluminate, and at least one alkyl halide, comprising 1,1,1 - trichloroethane, tetrachloroethane or a mixture thereof; wherein more than 99,9% of at least one olefin be alkylated in the hydrocarbon mixture. In addition, a hydro conversion process comprising a drying of the alkyl halide.
