The lining has two covering parts (16, 18) comprising two projections (50, 50''), where a space (41) is formed between the two covering parts in a joined state for arrangement of a bearing section (34) of a base (26). The projections are put into the bearing section of the base. One of the covering parts comprises a mounting portion (35) for fastening the other covering part at the former covering part. The latter covering part comprises another mounting portion (40) for fastening the former covering part at the latter covering part. A fixing member (20) connects the covering parts. The fixing member is designed as a screw, a clip, a nut, a rivet, a pin or a splint, and the bearing section is designed as a hook, an eyelet, a tab or a flange. An independent claim is also included for a method for assembling a lining for a base for fastening a mirror head.
