The detection method comprises, after the start of the control system (10), - latter being provided with two channels of the control (v1, v2) used for sending an electric current (i) of the electrohydraulic device (11) intended to transform this current in the hydraulic power delivered to the actuator, and before the tensioning of a starter - generator of the engine, the implementation of the following steps, for each channel of the control, in succession: - sent to this path of an electric current of predetermined test (itest); - assessment of a difference between the electric current and a measurement of the electric current is converted into the hydraulic power by the electrohydraulic device; - if this difference is greater than a predefined threshold, the detection of an electrical failure on this track.
