The invention relates to an apparatus for avoiding penetration of foreign particles (3 see fig 1) into a vehicle interior 37. A monitoring device 43 detects an expected opening 45 of a vehicle door 41. In the case of an expected opening, which may be detected when a door (8 see fig 1) is unlocked, an overpressure generating device 46 generates an air overpressure 47 in the vehicle interior 37. The pressure increase may depend on the detection of accumulated particles on the vehicle exterior. The particles may be snow or dirt. A rain sensor, a temperature sensor or a light sensor may be provided.
