PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous secondary battery having excellent discharge load characteristics, charge acceptability and cycle characteristics, in which the initial charge/discharge irreversible capacity is sufficiently small, even if an active material layer having a negative electrode material on a collector has a high density required for high capacity.SOLUTION: The negative electrode material for nonaqueous secondary battery contains composite graphite particles where natural graphite and carbonaceous or graphite are compounded. The graphite particles are pressure molded, and when an electrode having an electrode active material density of 1.8±0.03 g/cmis produced using the composite particles, the porosity in the electrode obtained by measuring the cross-sectional image of the electrode is 7.5-30%.
