PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coil sensitivity estimating apparatus capable of reducing errors in estimating the coil sensitivity, a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus, a coil sensitivity estimating method, and a program. PSOLUTION: The coil sensitivity inside the body of a subject (on the inner side of the head 8a) among the coil sensitivities of surface coils 41 is computed by applying a fourth polynominal model PMa to the signal strength I in an area RP. On the other hand, the coil sensitivity outside the body of the subject (on the outer side of the head 8a) is computed by applying a secondary polynominal model PMb to the signal strength I in the area RP. After computing the coil sensitivities by using the different polynominal models PMa and PMb, a combining process for smoothly combining the coil sensitivities is executed.
