For the quantification and visualization in vivo at the transcriptional level remyelination events and demyelination in the CNS, myelin basic protein - luciferase bioimaging non-invasive model is provided. Were generated using (MBP) promoter myelin basic protein coupled to the firefly luciferase reporter transgenic animals expressing luciferase. MBP-luci bioimaging model provides a means for monitoring the efficacy of a test compound to modulate the remyelination and state of myelination. The advantage of bio-imaging, a subject that can serve as its own control in long-term studies. During the remyelination process and demyelination, the same subject may be tracked continuously over a period of 10 weeks at least.
