PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for deciding an appropriate causal structure of observed variables, on the basis of small amount of data without requiring human knowledge. PSOLUTION: A causal structure output device 10 that decides a causal structure as a model of the causal relationship among a plurality of variables is provided with: a complete graph generating part 25 for generating a causal structure with virtual causal relationship; a causal structure search part 27; an evaluation value calculating part 28 for evaluating, on the basis of data obtained for each variable, the model complexity and the quality of goodness fit of the data in the causal structure generated; and a decision part 30 for deciding the cause and effect structure having the highest evaluation as the cause and effect structure of the variable.
