Polymer substrate having a fluoroalkoxy group for amine capture

Amino-containing material may be coupled to a polymeric material having a pendant amine capture group comprising a fluoroalkyl group. Amino-containing material can react with the pendant amine capture group by nucleophilic substitution reaction. The reaction product is a pendant group containing a carbonyl group and imino alcohol. The reaction results in the binding of the amino-containing material to the polymeric material. Polymeric materials, are often placed on the surface of the substrate, binding to the polymeric material of the amino-containing material results in the immobilization of amino-containing material on a substrate.
