The invention relates to a method for quantitatively determining the air flow rate lost in the exploited mining area, diminishing the flow rate corresponding to the air streams, from the very fresh-air supply paths up to the removal of vitiated air from the underground. According to the invention, the method consists in establishing the place of application by identifying the insulation construction at whose level there is determined the air flow rate lost in the exploited area, followed by the preparation of the place where a diaphragm is placed and the construction of said diaphragm made of light and impervious material, arranged in successive strips joined by overlapping and sticking with the adhesive tape, subsequently an opening being cut into the diaphragm and the diaphragm built on the contour of the mining work being sealed, after which the velocity of the air in the opening is measured, and finally the air flow rate lost in the exploited area is calculated by means of the measured velocity of air.
