STAND FOR FERROFLUID STUDY

The invention relates to a stand for studying the stability of a ferrofluid in the presence of a magnetic field. According to the invention, the stand consists of a cylindrical recipient () which is provided, at the upper extremity, with an annular support (), wherein there are implanted many LEDs () helping to view the surface of a ferrofluid () placed onto the bottom of the recipient (), the experiment being viewed with a video camera (), the recipient () being placed, by means of a drum () which is integral with a threaded axle which allows the vertical adjustment of the position of the recipient (), inside a system comprising a pair of Helmholtz coils (), separated by some spacers () and supplied, by a rectifier bridge (), from an auto-transformer (), and for measuring the current and voltage, there are used some voltmeters () and ammeters (), the connection between the two coils () may be of serial or parallel type.
