A process comprising decreasing the ganglioside inhibitory activity in a composition comprising a polypeptide of the IFN-β-1b to obtain a composition having a specific activity of IFN β-1b higher compared to a composition of IFN-β reference, wherein said decrease of said ganglioside inhibitory activity is by selective oxidation of said IFN-β polipiéptido of-1b, wherein said process comprises separating gangliosides from said composition, so that it is substantially free of gangliosides.
