Linkage apparatus attaching a vehicle and an accessory, the accessory having ascraping edge commonly used for clearing snow. The accessory may be forexample a bucket on a front end loader. The linkage is formed as a non-parallelogram quadrilateral with four pivot axes. Upper and lower pivot axesattach the linkage to the accessary. When the vehicle is driven so that thescraping edge strikes an immovable object, the linkage functions so that thelower pivot axis moves in a direction toward the accessory relative to theupper pivot axis. That is, the quadrilateral linkage functions to lift thescraping edge as a heel of the accessory remains on the ground such thattogether the accessory is allowed to tilt up at the scraping edge and rideover the immovable object.
