ASSAY FOR DIABETES-ASSOCIATED AUTOANTIBODIES

The present disclosure provides methods of detecting diabetes- associated autoantibodies against at least one antigen in a sample. The present disclosure also provides methods that can be used to determine whether a mammalian subject has autoimmune insulitis and/or is at risk for developing autoimmune diabetes. Once identified, therapeutic interventions can be used to treat the insulitis and to prevent, delay, or lessen the severity of autoimmune diabetes. The present disclosure is also directed to a kit for performing the methods of the present disclosure.
