EarlyCDT?-Lung is an autoantibody assay available commercially to aid the early detection of lung cancer. This fully validated CLIA test utilises a panel of antigens to detect serum autoantibodies and the initial development of a similar test for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is described. A pilot study was carried out on a cohort of 96 HCC patients, 96 age matched healthy controls and 169 controls with benign liver disease. Of the 40 antigens investigated, 27 displayed clear differentiation of cancer sera from controls.
