The present invention relates to the field of information technology, and in particular to a method and an apparatus for transmitting node state information in a distributed cluster system. An embodiment of the present invention provides a method for transmitting a node state in a distributed cluster system. The distributed cluster system comprises at least two layers; common nodes exist between an upper layer and an adjacent lower layer; the upper layer is formed by the common nodes with the adjacent lower layer; each layer comprises at least one group; and each group of the lower layer comprises at least one common node with the adjacent upper layer. When a first node is added to the distributed cluster system, first node adding information of the first node is transmitted to each node in the distributed cluster system through the common nodes in the distributed cluster system. The method provided by the embodiment of the present invention reduces routing times of the node state information, thereby reducing time required in transmission of the node state information to each node in the distributed cluster system.
