The invention relates to a rotating electrical machine (26), which comprises a rotor (19) which is mounted such that it can rotate about a machine shaft (18) and is surrounded concentrically by a stator (10), which has a stator winding (13) which is embedded in slots (12) of a stator laminate stack (11). Effective damping is achieved by virtue of the fact that an open stator damper winding (15) is provided so as to reduce unbalanced magnetic forces in the stator (10).
